1) Boys Ice Hockey - Fairfield vs. Norwalk/McMahon
It was one of the greatest games Fairfield Hockey will ever play, if only because of one player. Will Capalbo's brother Charlie needed a bone marrow donor. Will interrupted his senior season in goal for the Mustangs to donate. In front of NBC cameras and a number of rowdy fans, Will pitched a shutout in his final game before donating his bone marrow.

Colony Grill Team of the Week: Week #2

Another week, another Team of The Week here at FSN. Below are the nominees for the second Colony Grill Team of the Week. Voting ends at noon on Wednesday.

Football: There was plenty of doubt coming into the season about how Mitch Ross would fill the gaping hole left by one of the greatest classes of seniors in Ludlowe football history. However, four games into the season, the falcons have proven to be just as strong as they were a year ago. Friday night only helped that argument as Ludlowe marched to Testa Field and defeated Norwalk 43-42, the game score as a year ago, to move their record to 2-2. Senior James Bourque scored the game winning two point conversion with less than 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Boys Cross Country: The Falcons remain a top contender in the FCIAC, leading the east division at 10-2

Field Hockey: The runners up in our first team of the week poll are back for week two. They have won 3 of their last 5 and are currently in 8th place (With 8 points) in the FCIAC heading into a week in which they will play against two of the top five teams in the conference.

Girls Volleyball: The defending Team of the Week is back for more. Trailing two sets to none on Saturday against New Canaan, the falcons came surging back to win three straight sets, taking down the Rams and keeping their record perfect through nine games.

Game of the Week | Boys Soccer Takes Down Stamford for First Win of the Season

It's always good to play in a home opener, just ask the Ludlowe boys soccer team, who defeated the Stamford black knights in their inaugural home campaign on Wednesday night, 2-1. This matchup between perennial powerhouse teams was an easy choice for our first "Game of the Week" broadcast of the 2019/2020 season. Head coach Kevin O'Hara's squad was looking to keep momentum going from a 4-1 JV victory, while earning their first varsity victory as well. After a tie against Trumbull and a loss at McMahon, a win would be a crucial part to opening the season strong.

The falcons tied, but never trailed in the matchup, striking first when senior Zaid Atta put one in the back of the net after a scrum inside the box at '31. Atta's goal was just one of the numerous opportunities created by a surging Ludlowe offense in the first 20 minutes of soccer.

Stamford would not go easily though, as the orange and white capitalized on one of Ludlowe's only defensive misfortunes midway through the first half, tying the game at 1 with just under 24 minutes left in the opening forty.

As in the first half, the falcons came out brisk on offense to begin the second half, with another barrage of opportunities in their offensive half of the pitch. In the end, it was too much for the Stamford defense to handle as Ludlowe junior Matt Rullo came through with a 30 yard boot that found the back of the net, just underneath the top post of the goal. From there, the falcons cruised to a 2-1 victory thanks to more offensive chances and steady defense that halted a number of late possesions from the black knights.

With the win, the falcons move to 1-1-1, gaining 3 much needed points and bringing their season total to 4. Stamford drops to 1-1-1, also with 4 points on the year. Ludlowe will play under Friday night lights later this week against Trinity Catholic, looking to add another win to their record. Stamford is also in action Friday against another historically dominant squad, the Greenwich Cardinals.

Next week, we're back with boys soccer as the falcons host the Ridgefield Tigers, who will be looking to turn things around after a 0-3-0 start to the season.

New Changes Coming for FSN in the Upcoming School Year

The Falcon Sports Network is very pleased to announce our broadcast plan for the 2019-20 high school sports season. FSN anticipates to broadcast 18 live regular season contests, plus extended playoff coverage come the end of the season.
In addition to our live sports programming, FSN will produce a monthly magazine style show, “Inside Ludlowe Athletics”, that will air on the final Sunday of every month. The show will air live on the FSN Youtube at 9am and will be available on demand once it has ended. Host Aiden Blanc will give you an in-depth look at the players, families and teams that make Ludlowe athletics so great.
Also returning for the 2019-20 season, FSN Photographs. This spring, FSN published more than 500 high-quality photographs from 5 teams that were free to view and download. Starting this fall, FSN photographers will once again be out and about at even more games to photograph Ludlowe sports. The photographs will be available at fsnludlowe.shutterfly.com.
From the week of 9/16 to the week of 10/28, FSN will broadcast 8 “Games of the Week”, live along the NFHS Network. Each game will be preceded by a 15 minute pregame show, featuring stats, standings and in depth analysis as well as an announcement of our “Team of the Week” winner. Fans can watch the games live from anywhere across the world! FSN staff will write weekly previews of each Game of the Week that will contain in depth analysis on both teams as well as links to live and on demand broadcast material.
FSN will produce a live-stream of 9 varsity football games this fall. Coming off of their best season in program history, Falcon Football will look to contend with the biggest and best in the FCIAC in hopes of qualifying for the CIAC state playoffs. Each football broadcast will begin with “FSN Tailgate”, returning for the second season this fall. Hosts Aiden Blanc and Cameron Manna will break down the night’s matchup, as well as other matchups from around the FCIAC/state. Each show will also have that week’s “Coaches Show”, as Aiden Blanc will sit down with falcon’s head coach Dr. Mitchell Ross to talk about all things Falcon Football. “FSN Tailgate” will air 1 hour before each broadcast on the Falcon Sports Network twitter (@FSN_Ludlowe). Fans will be able to interact with Aiden and Cam during the show and the game.
Back by popular demand, FSN’s “Team of the Week” poll will be making a return for the 2019-20 season. Voting will begin every Saturday at noon (8PM if there is a game on Saturday) and will close 24 hours later on Sunday.
